Our abusive buyer policy lays out unacceptable buyer behaviour. Buyers may not misuse feedback, returns, or payment dispute processes. Our full policy below outlines Donnate's expectations for buyer behaviour.
Sellers are not required to agree to any extras or changes to the terms of their listing. If a buyer is making demands that are not part of the original listing, you can cancel the transaction. We encourage you to communicate politely and professionally with the buyer.
A payment dispute occurs when a buyer initiates a chargeback for a purchase transaction with their credit card issuer or payment service provider.
This policy outlines our expectations for buyer behaviour. When buyers don't meet these standards, sellers can report abusive behaviour. Engaging in activity as described in this policy may result in a range of actions, including issuing warnings to buyers and suspending accounts.
When we review a report of a member violating our policies, we look at the circumstances, including the member's history. We make decisions based on the evidence in the individual situation as well as by evaluating patterns of behaviour that create negative value in the marketplace. If we aren't sure about something, we may not take any action. Also, because we respect our members' privacy, we can't discuss the results of any investigations.
Behaviours we don't allow
- Don't demand something not offered in the original listing
- Requesting shipping service (In Donnate we only provide local pickup)
- Requesting that the seller hold your item so you can pay later
- Request additional items or services not included in the original listing
- Finding an item on Donnate and taking the sale off Donnate
- Don't make false claims
- Claiming an item was not collected when there is proof of collection on the Order details page
- Don't misuse Donnate messaging or offering
- Sending messages to force or intimidate the other member into something outside of the original agreement
- Making an offer and buying an item but failing to pay for the item
- Don't abuse your payment service provider's dispute processes
- Initiating a payment dispute with your payment service provider, although you collected the item or received a refund.
- Filing duplicate or excessive payment disputes
- Pay for items you win or commit to buying
- When a buyer commits to buying something on Donate by agreeing to an offer with a seller, they are obligated to complete the purchase by sending full payment within 2 days. If the order gets cancelled due to nonpayment, buyer's offering privileges will be suspended. Buyers can reactivate their offering privileges by paying the Default Fee. The default fee is 5% of the order amount, but it cannot be less than 1 or more than 49 dollars.
Activity on Donnate is required to:
- Follow all applicable laws
- Respect the rights of third parties
- Follow the Donnate User Agreement
- Follow this Donnate policy
If activity doesn’t meet these requirements, Donnate may take action consistent with applicable laws and the Donnate User Agreement and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: administratively ending listings or cancelling transactions; hiding or lowering the placement of listings in search results; restricting buying or selling; and account suspension.
We want to make sure Donnate is a safe place to donate. In order to make Donnate a safe place to donate, we hold our buyers to certain standards. When buyers do not follow these standards, we take action against them and protect our sellers.
